Below is a list of things a home owner can do to make a property photograph well. These tips can really make a huge impact on the final product. They are quick, easy things that can be done prior to the photo-shoot to ensure a quality result.

  • Remove evidence of pets.

     

  • Remove all vehicles from driveways and do not park directly in front of the house.

     

  • Move garbage cans out of sight so they cannot be seen in the photo.

     

  • Remove all garden tools including hoses and sprinklers.

     

  • Mow and rake yard.

     

  • Sweep driveways, sidewalks and patios.

     

  • Clear off counter tops in kitchen and bathroom areas.

     

  • Remove photos, notes and papers from the refrigerator.

     

  • Turn on all interior lights.

     

  • Turn off ceiling fans and televisions.

     

  • De-clutter rooms which may be excessively furnished. They do not photograph well.

     

  • Make all beds and tidy bedrooms. Clothes hung, or folded and put away.

     

  • Remove piles of newspaper and magazines.

     

  • Tuck trash cans out of view in a closet or cupboard.

  •

Please note that their are many other things that can be done to improve the way a home is photographed. We simply outlined a few ideas.
